Protein bars are an essential muscle-building snack - but sometimes they come packed with unnecessary ingredients, like added sugar, that easily rack up calories.

If you want to know exactly what’s in your post-workout snack, take a crack at these homemade protein bars. They take only minutes to make and will keep you fueled when you need it the most. Plus, the combo of figs, coconut flakes, and dried cranberries will instantly satisfy your craving for dessert.

Watch the video above to see how to make them or use the recipe below as your guide.

What You’ll Need:

6 dried figs

2 Tbsp coconut oil

1/4 cup peanut butter

1/4 cup almond meal

1/4 cup dried cranberries

1/4 cup coconut flakes

1 tsp sea salt

1 cup pecans

2 scoops chocolate protein powder

1/4 cup water

pinch of cinnamon

How to Make It:

  1. In a food processor, combine figs, coconut oil, and peanut butter. Process until blended. Add the cranberries, coconut, almond meal, cinnamon, and salt, and process until the mixture is well incorporated.
  2. Add the pecans, chocolate protein powder, and water, and pulse until the mixture looks like cookie dough.
  3. Transfer the dough into an 8” x 8” baking dish and press the mixture down flat with the back of a spoon. Store in the fridge for at least 1 hour to harden. Cut into bars. Store extras in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
