Stronger Core, Faster Times
It’s not all about your legs. Runners on a 6-week core-strengthening programme shaved 47 seconds off their 5-K times, a new study reports. A control group didn’t do the core work and improved by only 17 seconds. A strong core helps you maintain good posture, which leads to consistent stride length and frequency. This may reduce fatigue, says author Kimi Sato, PhD (c).
